The Nautilus is an amazing creation of nature that embodies the principles of the Fibonacci spiral.
The Fibonacci spiral is a mathematical sequence of numbers in which each subsequent number is the sum of the previous two: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21 and so on. This sequence has the unique property that the ratio of each number to the previous one tends to the golden ratio, approximately equal to 1.618. It is this relationship that is used to create the Fibonacci spiral.

The Nautilus's outer casing is an example of a perfect Fibonacci spiral. Each new chamber it creates increases in size according to the Fibonacci sequence numbers.

The Nautilus spiral shape, based on Fibonacci numbers is also found in many other aspects of nature. It is observed in the growth of flower petals, the arrangement of seeds in sunflowers, spiral snails and many other biological structures. This demonstrates that Fibonacci principles shows the the basis of life and are fundamental to the formation of natural forms.

Ring size guide

A well fitting ring should feel secure without being tight. It should slide over your knuckle with a little resistance and sit comfortably at the base of your finger.

Measure a ring you already own

  1. Choose a ring that fits the intended finger well.
  2. Place it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter from one inner edge to the other.
  3. Record the measurement in millimetres and find the closest match in the chart below.

Measure your finger

  1. Wrap a narrow strip of paper or a non stretch thread around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark the point where the ends meet. The fit should be comfortable and able to pass over your knuckle.
  3. Lay the paper or thread flat and measure the length in millimetres.
  4. Use the circumference column in the chart to find your size.

Metric ring size is based on the inside diameter of the ring. For example, an inside diameter of approximately 17 mm corresponds to ring size 17.

  • Avoid measuring when your hands are very cold or swollen.
  • Measure two or three times for a more reliable result.
  • If you are between sizes, choose the larger size.
  • Wider bands often feel tighter, so you may prefer one size larger.
